FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Still dry & slightly cooler for Wednesday

As is expected, the larger hard-sided coolers had a clear advantage over the soft-sided coolers. They are not only larger but utilize thicker insulation, rubber gaskets, and an overall more ice-friendly design. In addition to this, Ozark Trail also has some more mainstream designs for those who are simply on a tight budget and looking for a product to pack their lunch or picnic in. The Ozark Trail 45 quart cooler is known for its convenience and durability, with an industrial-strength locking plate to keep it sealed tight and wheels for easy transport. Featuring a fish ruler and confirmed bear-resistant by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee, it's perfect for back-country adventures.
Rounding out the exterior is a lid that features 4 cup holders and inch notches for measuring your catch of the day. I spend a great deal of time on the water every summer boating and fishing in Northern Michigan. I will often load a large cooler up at the beginning of the week and leave it on my Pontoon packed with drinks and ice. If you have a boat and bring kids or friends on the water, you know that once you leave the dock the requests for drinks start rolling in fast and furious. Sure, you can load a cooler out each morning packed with fresh ice, but it is just so much easier to cut down all that work with a cooler than can keep ice for days on end. We like the sharp edges and progressive appearance of the Ozark Trail Coolers. Also, the stainless steel hardware and orange accents on the latches and handles look very sharp. The 26-Quart version doesn’t have any drain plug at all, meaning the only way to empty the cooler is to tip it upside down. The old Pelican coolers were some of the heaviest coolers with the old 35-Quart weighing in at around 33 lbs. But they have since been redesigned to be lighter and more in line with other coolers. The 52-Quart version weighs 31.1 lbs when it’s empty and the 73-Quart versions weights even more at 35.3 lbs. At the same time, another storm will skirt by to our north bringing rain to the upper Midwest. Some customers report it working great and easily keep ice for 4+ days while other customers talk about it losing almost all it’s ice with just 24 hours. Ozark Trail coolers are Walmart’s brand of coolers and they are some of the most affordable roto-molded coolers on the market, offering great value for money. But they aren’t perfect and there are some problems with Ozark Trail coolers that you should be aware of before purchasing. Another day with mostly sunny skies and dry air in place allowed us to warm up fast after a cold start this morning. We actually saw temperatures this afternoon climb well into the 50s and some of our Weather Watchers had highs go into the 60s before sunset. We’ll trend a bit cooler for Wednesday behind a cold front and with clouds on the way. We’ll still have to wait until our next storm system in the Rocky Mountains can come our way to get rain chances back in the forecast. However, given that it’s Walmart and they are a big box retailer they are often changing their prices. Occasionally selling them for full price, but more often than not selling them for some sort of discount.
